The Shortsea Promotion Centre (SPC) depends on the co-operation of the various partners involved in the sector, when doing the job. In the first place the co-operation of the ships’ agentsan and shortsea operators, as they have to supply the information about their shortsea liner services. The SPC works closely together with them. The same applies to other participants.

In 2006 the cooperation started between the SPC and organisations of other modalities, such as:
Bureau Voorlichting Binnenvaart (Inland Shipping Information Agency)
Rail Cargo information Netherlands

This cooperation has been prompted by the tangent planes between the three organisations. All three have the same mission and ambitions: promoting the use of intermodal transport. Also the spirit of the time plys a role. Before policies were made per modality by the government. Because of the growth in transports in the Netherlands and Europe one has realised that all modalities are needed in order to efficiently organise all the outgoing and incoming good flows, while maintaining a livable environment. An optimal utilazation of all modalities will be essential in this scenario. Coopration between modalities will be necessary more than before, also seen from the emissions angle. Road transport is responsible for 61% of CO2 emissions, while shortsea, rail and inland shipping jointly are only responsible for 39%. Please visit www.hollandintermodal.com

More and more companies in the transport sector  do not only use road transport, but also use other modalities. The three promotion organisations for shortsea, rail cargo and inland shipping use this trend by presenting the alternatives together. This started in 2006 with a joint presentation to shippers in Rotterdam, Venlo and Goes and a joint stand at the “Freight Select” exhibition in Rotterdam. The scope of the joint activities has been broadened with e.g. working visits for specific target groups and an Intermodal Conference in 2009.

Besides them, the foundation SPC can rely on the support of other organisations involved in the transport sector, including:
- the Dutch Organisation for Forwarding and Logistics, FENEX
- the Organisation of seagoing forwarders and international logistic service providers, BZE.

The foundation also co-operates with interest – and promotional organisations aiming at attracting the attention of target groups on intermodal shortsea shipping. Amongst them are:
- RPPC (Rotterdam Port Promotion Council)
- Amports (Amsterdam Ports Association)
- PPCZ (Port Promotion Council Zeeland)
